A Breakfast of Fellowship and Mission – Barnabas Aid Portugal

On the morning of Saturday 6th December, Bishop Afonso, Pastor Elizabeth, Pastor Samuel, and Kirsty attended a breakfast event organised by Dr. Warton in partnership with Barnabas Aid Portugal.

Building Connections Across Portugal

Dr. Warton has been making encouraging progress in building relationships with churches and ministries across Portugal. As a result of these growing connections, the monthly breakfast events are hosted in a different location each time. Each venue offers a unique insight into how the Lord is working within that particular ministry, while also highlighting the strong relationships being formed between believers.

Gathering at the Portuguese Biblical Institute

On this particular Saturday, the event took place at the Portuguese Biblical Institute in Tojal, just north of the city of Lisbon. The morning was a rich and uplifting experience, featuring a blend of speeches, presentations, and musical performances.

Worship Through Music and Scripture

Bishop Afonso was given the opportunity to share his musical gift through a beautiful song sung in Umbundu. The song reflected on how the Lord hears the cries of His people, drawing attention to Exodus 3:7:

“The Lord said, ‘I have indeed seen the misery of my people in Egypt. I have heard them crying out because of their slave drivers, and I am concerned about their suffering.’”

Standing with the Persecuted Church

Representatives from Barnabas Aid Portugal shared about areas around the world where Christians are enduring severe persecution, including Sudan and Pakistan. Following each presentation, there was a short but meaningful time of prayer at each table.

Fellowship and Gratitude

Throughout the event, guests enjoyed a generous selection of food and drinks, as well as time at the end to connect, converse, and get to know one another.
